CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK

Deborah Henson, LCSW, JD, LL.M. (MSW – Tulane, 1977; JD – Loyola, 1991; LL.M. – UC Berkeley, 1993).  Deb is a LCSW in Louisiana and Texas.  She is also a Board Approved Supervisor in the State of Texas.

Deb has maintained a clinical practice in New Orleans for over 20 years, offering psychotherapy with an emphasis on adults, couples and families, and clinical consultation.

"I enjoy working with teenagers and pre-teens, and have a good track record of establishing rapport . My specialty is the development of the therapeutic relationship with individuals, couples, and families. I have worked with many different types of issues, and am keenly aware that successful therapy requires a foundation of trust between therapist and client(s), which not only allows, but supports successful inner change. I respect and learn from my clients.  I have been a psychotherapist since 1980, and have worked with a myriad of clinical issues in private practice. I have taught at Tulane School of Social Work (MSWs - Clinical Work w/ Children and Family Violence), at the University of Texas School of Social Work Professional Development Program, and at St. Edward's University Professional Counseling Program.."

Deb has many years of experience working with divorcing families in various modalities, including Divorce Groups for adults, children, and teenagers. While in Austin, Deb provided clinical services for Travis County Domestic Relations Office through the Cooperative Parenting Program where she conducted psycho-educational groups for divorcing spouses who are either court-referred or have privately sought out the group to learn how to improve their co-parenting skills.
